PICS is a fully integrated suite of data management
and decision support applications specifically
designed to meet the challenges of the pipeline industry. The primary
purpose of the PICS
application is the development of comprehensive, proactive pipeline integrity
programs. It
enables the effective integration, control, and real-time correction of
three-dimensional spatial
information, providing the most advanced application available for full
life-cycle pipeline integrity data
management.
Cost Effective PICS provides efficient access to and management of
applicable data sets, substantially reducing
costs and streamlining data collection. PICS facilitates the effective
integration of data for risk
management or predictive models, thus allowing companies to develop timely
and cost effective
pipeline integrity programs. Additionally, PICS reduces integrity management
costs associated with
data access, data analysis, and locating anomalies along the pipe and
in the field.
Higher Performance PICS provides a consistent and highly accurate geo-spatial reference for
asset-based pipeline
integrity data and enables the integration and correction of diverse data
sets through the accurate
placement of this data along a three-dimensional model of a pipeline,
the Virtual Pipeline Model
(VPM). Operators with minimal computer training can perform this function
in the field and in
real-time. PICS includes graphic and mapping tools for the visualization
of spatial information. The Virtual Pipeline Model (VMP) The Virtual Pipeline Model (VMP) is a digital sampling of a pipeline in
three-dimensional space. The
VPM enables the positioning of points (e.g. anomalies) on a pipeline relative
to each other and
additionally describes their global position, and supports absolute and
relative geo-spatial sub-meter
accuracy in the x, y, and z planes. Baseline's graphical presentations
of the VPM display all
contours and bends of the targeted pipeline. "Off-the-shelf" Functionality PICS, based on an open-architecture design, accommodates diverse means
of data collection and
presentation. It is able to manage vast quantities of disparate pipeline
integrity data that is then
easily fed into other predictive and modeling routines. PICS incorporates
field data correction
modules that enable real-time seamless collection and integration of data
into the PICS enterprise
database. All PICS data sets support risk model and operational activities. Ease & Flexibility of Use PICS is fully scaleable from a field or desktop application to an enterprise-wide
environment allowing
operators to proactively develop and budget for cost effective pipeline
integrity programs. It is fully
integrated and automatically corrects relevant data sets each time new
data is collected. This
functionality ensures that data gathered using PICS is easily accessible
and may be manipulated to
meet the needs of many diverse users throughout an organization. Improved Data Integration When combined with PICS-based solutions, Baseline's GIS applications provide
superior accuracy,
reliability, and functionality for pipeline integrity applications. Baseline
integrates a wide-range of
geospatial data to compliment a PICS-centric approach to managing pipeline
integrity including
elevation, population, cultural, transportation, hydrography, topography,
soils, and land use.
Additional data sets including pipe centerline delineations, population
data, commercially navigable
waterways, unusually sensitive areas, and earthquake, hurricane, and flood
and landslide hazard
rankings. Superior Risk Assessment PICS provides pipeline owners and operators the ability to perform hazard
analysis on a level that far
exceeds the solutions currently available that typically "smear"
or "roll-up" the defect data, thus
losing much of the valuable detail that was originally gathered. The combination
of defect-by-defect
integrity management, with state-of-the-art hazard and risk analysis techniques,
enables companies
to meet and exceed expectations and leads to more reliable risk scores. Leads to Efficient Regulatory Compliance PICS bridges the best geospatial technologies with the most current and accurate information about a pipeline and its surroundings to efficiently and responsibly manage State and Federal regulations. Its ability to comprehensively identify HCAs is fundamental to a total integrity management program. All work performed is documented to record the information utilized in decision support and to track changes to these areas per OPS data updates or population/environmental changes. |

Additional Modules: Baseline Technologies' risk management module captures company risk beliefs
and industry
expertise in models capable of screening hundreds of risk variable datasets
to calculate failure
likelihood, failure consequence, and overall failure risk scores for pipeline
sections to individual
anomalies. Construction Module Baseline Technologies' web-enabled Pipeline Construction Module combines
powerful and secure
access to information with unparalleled control of pipeline construction
data, resulting in quality
assurance and leading to lower repair costs and auditable proof of compliance
for all regulatory,
code, and project specifications. NDE Baseline's NDE module enables the collection of virtually any data associated
with an investigative
excavation and improves the efficiency, integrity and accountability of
data collected in the field
during pipeline integrity programs. Field Data Correction Module In Addition to delivering the above software services, Baseline Technologies
