Strom Drainage System Design, Analysis and Management Software


Overview

HYDSYS will help you analyze, design and manage your storm drainage system. It is a comprehensive graphic information system (GIS) for your drainage infrastructure.

This software will simulate drainage from extreme rainstorms before and after land development and will help you to identify and correct deficiencies of developing urban areas. With selected hydrologic methods, you may generate design rainstorms, calibrate models, size pipes, simulate detention and produce hyetographs, hydrographs, plans and profiles.


AutoCAD Connection

HYDSYS runs alone, but if you have AutoCAD, the two will work together. Use your own base plan to capture manhole and pipe locations. Our toolbar makes it easy to pick, place, locate or edit drainage system components. Generate detailed drawings using the same color-coding as the key plans. Easily produce a set of profiles by specifying manholes as end-points.

• profiles show pipes, hydraulic grade lines and manholes with labels for manholes, lengths, existing and proposed diameters, grades and inverts

Key Plans & Profiles

Use powerful keyed manholes on key plans and profiles to view or edit information or to locate manholes and pipes on spreadsheets, hydrographs or AutoCAD drawings. Use them to view or connect CivilSystems properties. They let you navigate in a simple way with little effort.

• use pop-up labels to display your choice of information when your cursor is placed over a keyed manhole

HYDSYS software CivilSystems Connection

Use our CivilSystems property connector as an option to apply loads to your network. Build and maintain a database of differing land-use areas within catchments such as zoned lots, parks, streets or other properties. Pick polylines from an AutoCAD drawing to get areas. Predict the effects of development by extracting loads of various scenarios such as present-use, ultimate density (built-out) or future zoning.

Drainage Model

This gravity network model calculates flows from urban, rural and undeveloped area runoff by using several types and combinations of analytic methods:


• Rational method
• rural drainage simulation using U.S. Soil Conservation Service (SCS) curve number method
• Illinois Urban Drainage Area Simulator, ILLUDAS
• time lag routing
• storage routing using an implicit method
• modified Puls method routing
• link models using output and input hydrographs
• input or calculate times of concentration using either Kerby, Izzard or ILLUDAS formulae
• model detention storage with volumes or reservoir rating curves
• limit flows, vary rainfall from area to area, add base flows
• use hydrograph tools for routing with the modified Puls method, simple method or Muskingum method
• handle curved or irregular alignments with fixed length options
• enter pipes/channels, manholes/nodes in any order
• search for or sort manholes/nodes and pipes/channels
• generate pipe lengths from coordinates, inverts from ground elevations, pipe grades from lengths and inverts

Load your drainage model with hyetographs created with our rainstorm tools and by adjusting the runoff conditions of catchment areas.
